Extreme Weather is when the weather is very different from the average or usual weather patterns. These situations are very harmful to humans and the nature. Some of the weather can be so powerful that it can break buildings and even kill people.

- hurricanes
- tornadoes
- tsunamis
- earthquakes
- droughts
- heat waves
HURRICANES:
- a storm with violent winds (usually a tropical cyclone)
- has the ability to kill thousands of people depending on how strong it is
- has a wind force of 12 on the Beaufort scale
- Beaufort Scale: measure the speed of the wind (0 - calm winds --- 12- hurricane)
TORNADOES:
- destructive vortex of violent rotating winds
- it looks like a funnel-shaped cloud
- goes to a large storm system
TSUNAMIS:
- long, high sea wave that happens because of an earthquake
- earthquake inside of the ocean
- creation of name: "tsu"= harbor and "nami"= wave
EARTHQUAKES:
- sudden and violent shaking of the ground
- measured in magnitude
- causes great damage
DROUGHTS:
- a time where there is less rain in an area
- this causes a shortage of water
- animals or humans can die because of less water
HEAT WAVES:
- when the weather is very hot (high humidity)
- it feels like a desert
- and everything is dry
- animals and humans have to suffer
